Super Red Oscar (Astronotus ocellatus – captive-bred strain)

The Super Red Oscar is one of the most striking and vibrant selectively bred Oscar varieties, admired for its brilliant solid red to deep orange coloration that often covers most of the body and fins. Unlike Tiger or Albino Oscars, the Super Red displays minimal patterning, focusing instead on an intense and uniform red appearance that makes it a true centerpiece fish in large aquariums.

Like all Oscars, the Super Red is intelligent, interactive, and full of personality, often recognizing its keeper and even taking food from the hand. They are active and powerful swimmers, known for rearranging aquarium décor and interacting with their surroundings. Due to their size and waste production, they require a large aquarium with excellent filtration and are best suited to aquarists who can provide plenty of space.
