The Cyprichromis leptosoma “Moba” is a dazzling schooling cichlid from Lake Tanganyika, originating from the Moba region. Known for its shimmering silver-blue body, deep violet tones, and brilliant yellow or orange accents in the fins, this locality variant is one of the most striking of all Cyprichromis species. Graceful and peaceful, these mid-water swimmers add constant movement and elegance to Tanganyikan aquariums.
In the wild, they form large shoals above rocky outcrops, feeding on plankton in open water. In captivity, they thrive when kept in groups of 8 or more, ideally in taller aquariums with open swimming space. Their calm temperament makes them excellent companions for other Tanganyikan cichlids such as Altolamprologus, Julidochromis, or shell dwellers.
